Purpurrot mit violetten Reflexen empfängt Sie der Wein im Glas. Das Bouquet ist dicht und sehr intensiv, mit Noten von eingekochten Zwetschgen, Rumtopf, Kirschen und Cassis. Dazu gibt es allerlei Gewürze, Zimt, Vanille und Bitterschokolade. Die Intensität setzt sich am Gaumen fort. Das Tanningerüst verleiht dem Wein Rückgrat und Struktur, ist dabei jedoch überaus feinkörnig und elegant. Der Nachhall scheint kein Ende zu nehmen und unterstreicht nochmal eindrucksvoll die Güte dieses Weins.

The 2018 Amarone della Valpolicella Case Vecie is darkly alluring and brooding in the glass, with a dusting of confectionary spice and dried violets complementing wild blueberries and a lifting whiff of fresh mint. Soothingly round and surprisingly juicy in feel, this shows its minerality up front, as depths of tart wild berry fruits meet vibrant acidity, and an array of exotic spices emerges toward the close. It finishes tannic yet fresh and incredibly long, leaving a bitter blackberry crunch, violet inner florals and chalky concentration that boggles the mind. Bury the 2018 deep in your cellar, this is a long-distance runner.

Yet another relaxed, digestible and impeccably poised wine from this agreeable producer, standing out in a sea of tough, extracted and hot expressions of Amarone. Pithy red cherries, cloves, tamarind, dried tobacco and pomegranate. A little sweet, but the tannins are lithe and sinuous rather than hard and overworked. While full-weighted, the wine drinks like something considerably less ambitious. These are points to be rewarded. In essence, a wine that proves that drinkable Amarone is not an oxymoron. Bravo! Sustainable.
